The Downward Spiral

Album Design Project

The goal was to redesign an album cover, in this case the cover of The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails (NIИ). During this project I created 3 different versions of the album, along with mockup t-shirts and other merchandise.

Album Redesign 1 (1/3)

For the first design, I wanted the design to reflect the lyrics of the title track "The Downward Spiral."

Album Redesign 2 (2/3)

For the second design, I wanted to make a literal "Downward Spiral" with the letters and used the 3D features in Photoshop to manipulate the letters.

I created a t-shirt with this design also, and mockups with the band members wearing them are also below.

Album Redesign 3 (3/3)

This was my other take on creating a literal "Downward Spiral" but this time I tried to make the design appear 3D without using any actual 3D elements.
